You know when you read something and it really doesn’t resonate right at the moment. But then – I don’t know – an hour later…maybe a day…maybe even a week later you think: “Ah yes! Precisely!”
I had one of those experiences the other day after reading Sandra Tsing Loh’s hilarious and spot-on reaction in the New York Times to the recent Pew Study about marriage, education and income.

Great post, Delia – and thanks for the link to Sandra Tsing Loh’s column. Hilarious yet accurate. I’ve just started watching the series “Mad Men” and I’m mesmerized by the portrayal of the 1960s lifestyle. Many scenes make me cringe, but there is a certain appeal to the life of a housewife.
My wish: a wife to make my coffee every morning!

I am mostly enjoying my life as a housewife after my years in corporate America. When I was working (before I got married), I would go to the gym at lunch and hear the housewives complaining about how bored they were. I wanted to slap them and ask, “Do you think I work as a hobby?” I get a little bored now, but I remind myself that it is indeed a luxury to get to go to the gym, volunteer, go to Bible study, go to book club, have coffee with friends, blog and have all this free time that I have never had before.

Ah, Delia……I feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. I have just discovered your blog and an already a panting worshipper. There are too many delicacies for me to gobble up in one sitting……I fear a virtual tummy ache of cyber proportions would result if I tried, but I am looking forward to grazing at your bountiful buffet for many a moon from now on. Thank you for delights offered from now into the future (if that makes any sense at all….?)
