Friday Pix: Recommended Reading For The Weekend

Every Friday I point you towards some recommended reading around the blogosphere:

1. I spent all morning listening to this riveting interview between New York Magazine columnist Frank Rich and Stephen Sondheim about the composer’s life. Sondheim is smart, thoughtful and laugh-out-loud funny. Best thing I’ve heard in ages.

2. I’ve had several friends who lost their children to terminal illnesses. Here’s a beautiful and sad essay by Emily Rapp in the New York Times about parenting a child whom you know is going to die.

3. Over on Emptyage, there’s a wonderful send-up of Gen X cynicism about the current recession.

4. Naomi J. Williams has a terrific analysis of my new favorite television show, appropriately titled Occupy Downton Abbey.

5. I’m afraid this one cuts a bit too close to the bone. In the ever-hilarious, “So You Want…” series, I give you “So You Want To Write A Novel.” Ouch. (Hat tip: @donnatrussell)

Have a great weekend!
