In the wake of the pandemic, a lot of my friends and relatives—just like a lot of women the world over—let their hair go gray. They all look amazing.
And yet, I still dye my hair. I can’t say I’m proud of that fact. I’d like to embrace my gray. My mother went gray early and she looked fantastic.
And, to be fair, while my current hair color—a peachy blonde—is not even close to my natural color, I am resolved that the next time I dye it, I’m going to move it back closer to its real color, grey streaks and all.
But for now, as one of my cousins said to me recently about her own hair, “I’m just not ready for gray.”
